In less than two months, two environmental organizations have filed complaints against a national news channel, accusing it of presenting a one-sided view of climate issues. The Jean-Jaurès Foundation and the QuotaClima collective have submitted an official request to the Arcom, the audiovisual regulatory authority, to enforce the requirements of pluralism and journalistic rigor.
Complaint details: who, what, precise figures
The complaint was filed on October 3, 2026 by the Jean-Jaurès Foundation, a progressive think tank, and QuotaClima, an association for monitoring climate commitments. The two organizations cite an internal study that highlights a series of CNews broadcasts where environmental topics are systematically biased, without presenting alternative viewpoints or citing independent experts. The dossier submitted to Arcom includes a detailed analysis of all programs broadcast since the beginning of the year, noting the absence of references to major scientific reports such as those from the IPCC or Copernicus data.
The study, conducted by researchers from the Foundation, uses a content analysis methodology: each segment dedicated to climate questions was coded according to the presence of contradictory arguments, citation of scientific sources, and use of numerical data. The results show that less than 10% of the interventions dedicated to the environment contained a reference to a verifiable source, and none cited predictive models or neural networks used in current climate research. Based on this, the complainants ask Arcom to issue a formal notice to CNews, with the prospect of administrative sanctions if the channel does not correct its editorial line.
