At over 5,000 meters above sea level, conditions are extreme: severe wind, piercing cold, and thin air with only half the oxygen available in the valleys. It was in this challenging environment that, in July, the first comprehensive study of Mount Ararat's glaciers in eastern Turkey took place. This research was carried out by a German-Turkish team.

For two weeks, scientists explored the ice field, which had previously been a subject of speculation for researchers. The goal of this expedition was to determine whether the glaciers of Turkey's highest mountain contain a unique archive of the region's climatic and cultural history.
